Our Kindergarten through second grade students conducted a study to determine how much trash we throw away at YES could be recycled. Their trash audit showed that 13 pounds and 46% of what we threw away could have been recycled!
Mrs. Booth used that information to apply for a mini-grant from AskHRgreen.com for $500 to fund the purchase of recycling bins for each classroom to hold paper/cardboard recycling and some larger ones for the hallways and cafeteria for bottles and cans. The students cheered when the bins arrived and have been busy recycling ever since!
